Benefits for Schools:
*Combine and enhance the learning initiatives of your school, wildlife rehab/rescue centres and the importanace of wildlife conservation. This can be achieved by incorporating my soapstone courses with a local wildlife rehabilitation centre who can bring "Animal Ambassadors" into the classroom on the same day (additional fees may be incurred depending on the centre involved).
In this venue, students can see the animals and follow up their learning by carving their own version of an animal in soapstone. I truly believe this could have a greater long term impact on the student followed by a sense of pride in themselves and our planet. In my art class in grade 4 my art teacher brought in two real wolves (they were hers at the time!!!) and taught us how to draw eyes full of life. I use that incredible day of teaching everyday of my life which is why I feel it would be a wonderful opportunity for both the students and the teachers!
* Gather students together to make pendants for underpriviledged or sick children as gifts!
*Enhance your course objective by sparking a creative outlet in your students.
Also available as a compliment to the soapstone course day is a native drumming class by a Native Shaman, Victoria Wilde! (additional costs involved)
